Summer's Hottest Accessory

12-09-08

With summer here, it's time to shield your eyes and be fashionable! This year's hottest summer accessory...sunglasses. Change them with each outfit to get the latest up-to-date look. Here's your guide to selecting the best shades that flatter your face.

If the shape of your face is:

Oval Forehead is slightly wider than the jaw and tend to have high cheekbones

Lucky you. You have the most balanced face shape of all. You'll look great in almost any style. This year, break out of your shell and go for bold pairs like big, round black a la 'Jackie O' or white-framed 70-style squares.

Heart Broader forehead and small around the chin and mouth

Smaller, rimless styles are the best way to go for heart shapes. If you crave frames, choose smaller ones with no decoration around the temples and avoid oversized lenses with any detail work on the sides. This year aviators are calling your name.

Round Fairly short face with a wider forehead

Shoot for getting rectangular shaped sunglasses. This will help even out the roundness of your face. Look for sunglasses that have high set sides, decorative temples, and clear bridges. Avoid round lenses, extremely large frames, and decoration on the lower rim these can make your face look rounder.

Square The three main points of the face (forehead, jaw and chin) are almost equal width

For those with the strong square face, a more rounded pair of shades will work great. 'Jackie O' style sunglasses will look great on you (and are popular this season). Try dark black lenses for a mysterious look. Steer clear of square or angular lenses these can exaggerate your square facial features.

Long Deep forehead and high cheekbones

The trendy, over-sized shades of this season work well for you. Get bold this season with loud colors and odd shapes. To balance the longness, try large, square frames. Go for embellished sides that add width to your face and are stylish this season.

So whether you're wearing clothes in romantic creamy colors or bold loud patterns, the right pair of sunglasses will pull together any outfit. Keep checking back for the latest fashion trends!
